Upcoming Release Information - Red Paw Connection and BackupBox Version 7
The Red Paw "Connection" - now in final test - is expected to release in late March or early April 2008 - It offers a new, completely redesigned automagic file-by-file backup engine. It is a core software component of the entire family of Red Paw data and file management software. It will be a free and automatic upgrade for all BackupBox Version 7 licenses.

BackupBox Update Notification: Version 6.9 has been released. This is a maintenance release for all BackupBox customers and has been made available free of charge. This update includes enhancements for BackupBox saveset creation size, performance, and has three additional integrity checks. In addition, there are several new utilities available on the revised Recovery CD for the testing and analysis of BackupBox savesets.
In addition, technical administrators and Red Paw Technical Affiliates will find several new utilities for the creation of standalone BackupBox savesets and the ability to restore a saveset from one external disk to another.
BackupBox Version 6.9 has been released and all customers should receive an automatic update within the next 3-5 days -- you will see the notification bubble or you can hover over the Red Paw for the current version on your computer.

Due to falling disk drive prices and improved supplies, we have lowered our pricing an all BackupBox units. "Does the BackupBox work?" It most definitely does, and "So Simple It Gets Used" is not an overstatement. My laptop is like a purse to a woman. It goes with me everywhere. Like everyone, I would wonder occasionally "what would I do if my hard drive crashed?", but for a long time, also, like most folks, I ignored really thinking about the consequences. Attention Microsoft VISTA user candidates: BackupBox Version 6.5 released to accomodate minor changes due to VISTA compatibility issues. The current production BackupBox software available from the Downloads link will auto-update with these changes (make sure you allow BBComms.exe through your firewall).
The only other issue is, according to Microsoft's MSDN development recommendations, is that you disable the User Account Control. To do this, go into your VISTA Control Panel, User Accounts, and then turn off User Account Control. In addition, for all of you preparing for a new VISTA upgrade to your existing system, we strongly encourage you to do a complete check of your system disk before the upgrade, a complete BackupBox backup via the Backup Now! or Backup Now! and Shutdown menu, and then disconnect your BackupBox until you are sure your system and software is completely compatible with VISTA. This way, if there are errors or issues with VISTA on your system, you can simply restore your earlier system. Call or email support if you need any help!

Microsoft's new operating system, VISTA, has introduced new "User Access Control" features to increase the security of the overall computer environment. These changes may result in permission dialog boxes during BackupBox Version 6 and earlier software versions. You can allow the Red Paw BackupBox processes to run without problems, however it can be annoying to have to provide this permission periodically. We have a workaround available, if needed. See below.
BACKUPBOX Support Alert: The BackupBox Version 6 and earlier has reported intermittent problems with VISTA that have been addressed in the upcoming BackupBox Version 7. We strongly encourage you to do a full BackupBox backup before upgrading to VISTA or, if you have just received a new PC with VISTA installed, that you do a full BackupBox backup and then set your BackupBox aside for savekeeping during the next few weeks.
